How to attract new students to a learning center: a website, a free level test and online applications
How a learning center can find students online: a website, visibility on Google and Yandex, a free level test, online applications and fast follow-up.
Today, when parents or students look for a course, the first thing they reach for is their phone: they type "English course in Chilanzar" into Google, browse Instagram and ask friends on Telegram. If your center can't be found online, or it can be found but is hard to contact, the student goes to a competitor.
Below we go step by step through how a learning center can build a steady flow of students from the internet.
1. Have your own website
An Instagram page is good, but it doesn't replace a website. A website shows up in Google and Yandex search and keeps all the information in order. A good learning center site has:
- courses, each with its price, length and schedule;
- teachers: photo, experience, certificates;
- results: IELTS scores, olympiad winners, student reviews;
- branches with an address on the map;
- contacts: phone, Telegram, opening hours;
- a sign-up form.
The site must load fast on a phone: most visitors come from one.
2. Be visible on Google and Yandex
Ranking in search doesn't need anything complicated, but a few basic steps are essential:
- Add the site to Google Search Console and Yandex Webmaster.
- Create a Google Business Profile (Google Maps): address, opening hours, photos. This is what appears for "courses near me".
- Give every course its own page, such as "IELTS 6.5+ course" or "English for kids".
- Ask students to leave reviews on Google.
- A site in both Uzbek and Russian reaches twice as many people.
3. A free level test is the strongest "magnet"
People like to try things. A free online level test on your site does two jobs at once:
- visitors learn their level and become more interested;
- to see the result they leave their name and phone number, and the center gets a ready-made application.
Keep the test short (10–20 questions, 5–10 minutes), and make the result give a clear recommendation: "The Pre-Intermediate group suits you."
4. Don't lose applications
This is where many centers lose out: applications arrive in Instagram DMs, on the site and by phone, all in different places, and someone forgets. In a proper system:
- every application from the site lands in one list;
- the director or administrator gets a notification right away;
- each application has a status: new → contacted → became a student;
- an application turns into a student and joins a group in one click.
5. Respond fast
Someone who leaves an application may have written to two or three centers at once. The student usually goes to the center that calls first. Make it a rule to respond within 15–30 minutes during working hours.
Don't just quote a price on the call. Invite them to a free trial lesson: people who come are far more likely to start.
6. Show your results
Parents trust results most of all. Did your student score 7.0 in IELTS? With their permission, put it on the site and on social media. A real name, a photo and a short review make the best advertising.
7. Measure
Keep a simple monthly count: how many applications came in, how many were contacted and how many became students. When you know which channel (site, test, Instagram, word of mouth) brings the most students, you spend your ad budget wisely.
